Cieneguillas was formed by a group of friends who love nature. Our mission is to preserve the beauty of its meadows, forests, lakes and rivers.
CIENEGUILLAS

At the moment the Forest Reservation of Cieneguillas is an ecological reserve with over 1200 hectares of native forest, and mountain fed crystalline lakes and rivers equaling 141.5 hectares. The two lakes of turquoise waters are the gems in the crown of one of the most beautiful places in the center of Chile. It is located 65 kilometers from the city of Parral in the Andean foothills.
HISTORY

The Cieneguillas has maintained in its natural state for 100 years. There are traces of people from colonial times around the beginning of the 20th century. The colonial tracks indicate that the indigenous trees were cut about 300 years ago and replaced with oak. Today you will see 300 year old oaks standing next to the indigenous species . Footpaths have been discovered near the Lagoon of Suárez dating back to the time of the Inca.
DESCRIPTION

Cieneguillas is a narrow valley formed by two parallel ranges of foothills about 10 kilometers in length that join into a river basin called Cieneguillas . On the eastern side of the Cieneguillas is the foothill Sierra Troncoso and on the western side is the foothill Sierra Cieneguillas.
The lower part of the Cieneguillas is over 820 meters above sea level. At this point the Matadero River and the Cieneguillas River join. The Cieneguillas highest part is the Cerro Troncoso and the Cerro Rosillo 2100 meters above sea level.
Forest occupies 1200 hectares, water covers 141.5 hectares, the total protected are is 2,265 hectares for a total surface of approximately 3000 hectares. The Lagoon of Suárez is 1278 meters above sea level. Lagoon of Suárez has been tested as having some of the purest waters in the world it. The Lagoon of Suárez has a surface of 40.8 hectares and the Laguna Rosillo surface is 3.3 hectares. Cieneguillas houses one all year river the Rio Matadero and three seasonal rivers the Estero Florida, the Estero Rosillo, and the Estero Cieneguillas.The total water area of rivers yearly and seasonal, lakes and marshes is about 141.5 hectares.
